VS

Over the recent years, there have always been disagreements between these two broad areas. Science in it's attempt to gain and provide knowledge about the things we see in this world has come accross various contradictions with religion. In fact, science and religion might never be in harmony because religion is full of myths, legends, impurities and some inexplainable doctrines.

Religion and it's practitioners even go as far as contradicting themselves. Scientists on the other hand, fail to give a vivid explanation of their theories.
  PRACTICAL EXAMPLES
Religion has been in contradiction with science since long time ago. The discovery of Gamaliel Galileo is a clear evidence of this. When Galileo, a scientist, discovered that the earth is spherical, the church authority opposed him because his theory was not in harmony with the belief of the church at that time. The church, at this time believed and taught that the earth is flat. Which would you go for? Religion - the earth is flat or Science - the earth is spherical.
The story of creation is another perspective we can view this. Religions claim that the earth was created. Some scientists explain that life began by chance. The likes of Charles Darwin stated their theories. Charles, the great evolutionist, explained that life probably began spontaneously from the chemical soup that existed as the earth began to calm down a bit following its violent birth. Religion explains that the earth was created by the supreme being, God and that is what 92% religions stick to. Science claims that the earth came by chance while religion in contradiction to this, believe that the earth and everything in it was designed by God. Did your own earth come by chance or it was designed? Science contradicts itself and so does religion. Despite all the efforts of major scientists to explain their theories, we still see scientist who do not believe these things and therefore write against them.
Like i said earlier, religion contradicts itself. The various religions in the world are usually contradicting one another. That is not the end, they also go as far as contradicting themselves. For example, during the reformation stages of Christianity, Martin Luther criticized the catholic church on their trinity doctrine. He even criticized the pope over the sale of indulgences. He claimed that the pope has no authority to forgive sins, only God has. There are much more examples but i will publish them in a later post.
Do you agree with me? Or do you have contrary views on this topic? COMMENT below :
.
NOTE : Remember that this article was written without prejudice or sentiments. In fact, i am a strict practitioner of both religion and science.

Unlike other constituencies in Nigeria, the fight for the legislative post of House of Representatives in Badagry is still on. The two candidates, Hon. Arch setonji Gbemenu Koshoedo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Hon. Joseph Hontonyon Bamgbose of the All Progressives Congres(APC) are still struggling in court to decide the winner.

This is as a result of the controversial election that took place in the local government. The candidate for the All Progressives Congress(APC) Hon. Hontonyon Joseph Bamgbose was accused of manipulating the results of the election to his favour. However, it is clear that Badagrians voted his counterpart Hon. Setonji Gbemenu Koshoedo. A report claimed that the election was rigged and Hon. Bamgbose was declared winner by The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) in Lagos. On that day, the PDP members led by Hon. Koshoedo protested. The case was then transfered to the State INEC office for review and clarification. Here it was detected that the votes were rigged.

After that, the state INEC transfered the case to the election tribunal for solution. They are both in the tribunal resolving the matter.
However, Hon Bamgbose is now in office representing the constituency but comes back regularly to face his case in the tribunal until their dispute will be resolved and a bonafide representative is presented by the tribunal. WHO do you think will win? Comment below :

Nigeria, like some other countries in Africa cannot be said to be a fully developed nation. Therefore, scholars refer to Nigeria as a 'developing nation'. However, Nigeria is always regarded as the 'Giant of Africa' due to her influence and prominence on the African soil.
Moreover, Nigeria has surpassed most of other African nations in terms size, natural resources, unity, human resources, government, education, civilisation, sports, population, technology, science, art, health, and the most important one, Economy Economy is rated above the other factors because it forms the basis of progression and development in the nation.
Some scholars sometimes state that Nigeria being the giant of Africa is pointed towards the economy which they refer to as 'the giant in Nigeria' Having understood the above explanations, it is important that we take a look at Nigerian Economy and see how it has become so prominent as to lift the nation to such predominant height in the International world. Nigeria is a mixed economy state, that is, we practice both capitalism and socialism in our Economic system. This implies that the means of production and distribution of goods and services in the country are controlled by both the Government and private individuals like Aliko Dangote, Mike Adenuga and so on. However, the economy of the nation lies greatly on the natural resources at her disposal. Typical of these resources are crude oil (petroleum), tin, coal, limestone, iron, copper and so on. The greatest of these resources is crude oil (petroleum) because it serves as the cornerstone or a solid foundation on which the Economy of Nigeria is erected. At this stage, what do you think that Nigerians or Nigeria can do to accelerate the Economy of the Nation? Please comment your views below : #have your say#

Don't be surprised to see this post. I came up with it because I discovered that a lot of people don't really understand what planets and continents are. Many cannot differentiate between planets and continents.
So, when you ask them to tell you how many planets we have, they tell you the number of continents we have. I was very disappointed when i asked someone to define a continent and he became confused. Why? In fact, one of my juniors when i was still in High School messaged me yesterday requesting for clarity between these two terms. I was very busy attending to my clients so i told him to check on my blog today, i will post it. Therefore, this post was essentially written to educate those who do not know and probably keep those who already have the knowledge updated. As you know that at GistFreeNG, we take education very serious. Anyway, let's navigate back to our topic - planets and continents.
.
PLANET: A planet is a celestial body moving in an eliptical orbit around a star. In the traditional model of solar systems, a planet is a celestial body larger than an asteroid or comet, illuminated by light from a star, such as the sun around which it revolves. In a simple form, say, a planet is a large round object in space, (such as the) that travels around the star(such as the sun).
The international Astronomical Union (IAU) defined a planet as an object that orbits the sun, has sufficient mass to be round, is not a satelite (moon) of another object, has removed debris and small objects from the area around it's orbits. .

CONTINENT :
A continent is understood to be large, continous, discrete masses of land, ideally seperated by expanses of water. Or simply put, a continent is very large area of land sorrounded by water.

THE TRUTH ABOUT FROGS FALLING FROM HEAVEN

In Africa, people wonder where toads and frogs come from. This is as a result of the fact that in many African communities, there are various toads and frogs especially during the raining season. These toads and frogs come along with the rain. They get nearby the people in stagnant water and remain there umtil when these waters dry up

This has made the people to think various wise. They ask themselves where these animals come from and try to provide the answer. Do you know what these people believe? They believe when rain is falling, these toads, frogs and some types of fish such as tilapia and catfish fall along with the rain. They say that the animals are carried from heaven and dropped on earth by the rain.
Obviously, this is absolutely incorrect. When we were still very young, i used to go outside with my friends whenever there is rainfall just to check whether we would see some falling fish to pick. Unfortunately, we did not get even one. It means that this conventional belief of the people is a supersition. Fishes and frogs do not fall from heaven. Now, the question is : where do these animals come from when they appear during rainfall?
.
THE TRUTH :
Today, i discovered something about this topic. As i was pouring water on a particular spot in our garden, suddenly, i just saw something erupt from the ground. What was it? I saw a big toad before me. Then i remembered the teachings of one of my teachers in lesson that animals such as toads and frogs dig the ground and cover themselves with sand. When rain falls, they feel the wetness and muddyness of the sand and rush out to enjoy the water or the cold weather. This is what the people do not understand, therefore they confuse themselves with supersition.

Have There Always been Jehovah's Witnesses?

The Watchtower claims there have always been Jehovah's Witnesses. In that case, who were they prior to Russell? This article shows that not a single historical group has been found similar to Jehovah's Witnesses. The Watchtower teaches there have always been Jehovah's Witnesses. "Jehovah's witnesses have a history almost 6,000 years long, beginning while the first man, Adam, was still alive ... [Abel was] the first of an unbroken line of Witnesses ... Jesus' disciples were all Jehovah's witnesses ..." What is wrong with being one of Jehovah's Witnesses?

People chose to associate with a religious organization for its ability to: Focus attention on God and his everlasting purposes Outline moral guidelines Provide community The Watchtower Society has benefited the lives of many people by achieving the above goals in their lives. Jehovah's Witnesses are generally sincere, clean living people that wish to serve God. Many are well meaning and devote their lives to serving Jehovah in the manner prescribed by the Watchtower Society, attending several meetings and preaching every week. Being a Jehovah's Witness does not create the same level of problems for individuals or society that certain extremist organizations and cults have done. One of the enjoyable aspects of being a Jehovah's Witness is the friends that can be made through the congregation and the broad variety of people that can be met through District Conventions. However, this is not unique to being a Jehovah's Witness. I have...
